Grade 9 Mentorship

Give an interest
something real
to stand on.

“I think I would enjoy this” is a useful beginning. A year of trying, reflecting and recording helps your child discover what that interest means in practice.

About a year · Eight exploration cycles

The exploration loop

Try it. Review it.
Record it. Narrow it.

Each cycle has a purpose: to test something the Blueprint surfaced. Activities are chosen for your child, and what we need to find out.

01

Try something real

An activity arranged or curated around a question. A project, a conversation or another relevant experience, depending on what will help.

02

Make sense of it

A forty-five-minute review with your child. What was expected? What was it actually like? What did it confirm or rule out?

03

Keep the evidence

A written entry within a week of the review. What was learned becomes the starting point for what to try next.

A year you can picture

A clear rhythm.
Room for
school life.

  1. Begin with a year map

A ninety-minute student session turns the Blueprint into a starting shortlist, with the first two cycles named. Exams and holidays are marked from the beginning.

  2. Complete eight cycles

Usually four to six weeks each. Dates adjust around school commitments; the eight cycles remain.

  3. Keep parents in the picture

Reviews after cycles three, six and eight, plus a short written update every month, even during pauses.

  4. Stay connected between sessions

Your child can ask questions about their exploration on weekdays, with replies within twenty-four hours. Access is bounded and focused on this work.

  5. Close with the student’s own account

The full record, directions still being considered, what has been ruled out, and a closing reflection written by your child.

The record is the deliverable

“Here is what I tried.
Here is what
it taught me.”

At the end, we check the year’s experiences against the Blueprint. They may confirm the recommendation, refine it or point to a change, with evidence to explain why.

There is no second psychometric assessment included. The record of actual experience closes the loop.

Is this the right fit?

Time matters.
So does your
child’s willingness.

  • At least fifteen clear months from enrolment to your school’s subject-choice form.
  • The Stream Clarity Blueprint has been completed.
  • Your child wants to try things and talk about what they learn.
  • You are open to the year ending somewhere different from where it began.

The usual intake is July to 31 October. Your school’s actual deadline determines whether there is enough time, regardless of grade or intake dates.

If there is less time, we can identify a few useful steps from your Blueprint. The full programme is not compressed to fit.

Questions families ask

Know what
you are choosing.

Why does the Blueprint come first?

It provides the evidence we plan the year against. Each activity is chosen to test something specific about the student’s interests, aptitudes or possible directions.

What happens during exams?

We plan pauses in advance, typically six to eight weeks in total across exams and longer breaks. You still receive a monthly update, and postponed cycles are rescheduled.

Does mentorship make the Blueprint incomplete?

No. The Blueprint delivers a reasoned recommendation. Mentorship is for families who also want to use available time to test interests through experience.

What if my child stops participating?

Real participation is essential. Pause, missed-cycle and disengagement arrangements need to be agreed in writing before enrolment. Those arrangements are still being finalised for this programme.
